Carolina Sports Journalism Camp 2025

  • The Carolina Sports Journalism focuses on classroom study and newsroom practice. The camp, for rising high school juniors and seniors, will feature visiting sports reporters and sports personalities. Students will take a behind-the-scenes tour of UNC’s sports media facilities. They will cover a press conference and experience what it’s like to work on a sports media deadline. Instructional sessions will include sports videography, sports broadcasting and sports writing. The camp is led by instructor Tim Crothers, former senior writer for Sports Illustrated and author of three books: The Man Watching, co-author with Roy Williams on William’s autobiography, Hard Work: A Life On and Off the Court, and The Queen Of Katwe, which has been made into a Disney feature film.
  • The 2025 CSJC Camp registration fee of $600 for in-state students, $1500 for out-of-state students, covers all instructional sessions, lodging, meals, plus the camp T-shirt and water bottle. Students will be housed on UNC-Chapel Hill's campus. To apply, complete the following and include two references’ emails as designated and upload a short essay.
